This is my photo gallery for Katsucon, my first east coast convention!
It was a lot of fun, meeting a lot of different people, especially meeting those people I've only chatted with on Cosplay.com.
I flew into VA from CA with AJ and Moo. I split the hotel room with Moo and Ayaka. But later when we got snowed in, Saru and deathxangel joined us.
To be honest, I really didn't attend any of the convention panels or anything, just the masquerade. I basically hung out with friends old and new. :) None of the convention events were that interesting and attending cosplay groups like the Dead or Alive gathering and talking to new people was much more fun.
I did have the mention that the security of the convention was very uneven. They had a very strict weapons policy, which is sort of understandable, but I think enforcement of that was very bad. For instance they prevented the Spirited Away cosplayers from being in costume, because for some reason you had to have you face exposed at all times. But yet they didn't do anything about the annoying "ninjas" passing notes to people about how people should shower, even when they were fine. At one point, convention security came over to our group and asked if anyone was willing to volunteer. No one did. Anyway, enough griping. :)
Meeting everyone was just so much fun. Talking shop, hanging out, and meeting people was just fantastic. The convention just happened to be there. :)
The "snow storm of the century" was both a blessing and a curse. Of course it sucked that we got stuck in VA because the airports closed down. But, with everyone there we made the best of it. Everyone chipped in to keep people entertained and forget about being stuck in a hotel in the middle of a blizzard. :)
It seems that I'm debuting a new costume at every convention doesn't it? Well this time I went with my brand spanking new Kotaro Nanbara costume from the series, Hand Maid May. It was a comfortable suit that I sewed myself. It went over really well and people actually recognized me! Woohoo!
